Gallagher E-PIDS Achieves Latest CPNI Standards Certification
Gallagher's Electronic Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (E-PIDS) has achieved the latest standards set by the UK's Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), with its Z10 Tension Sensor added to the Catalogue for Security Equipment (CSE) for the first time.
CPNI certification is the primary qualification for perimeter detection equipment at UK government and critical national infrastructure sites — nuclear facilities, military installations, and key government buildings. Inclusion in the CSE means the Z10 can be specified directly by security consultants working on CPNI-regulated projects without requiring additional evaluation.
Gallagher's perimeter system uses a Monitored Pulse Fence combined with detection sensors (Z10 tension sensor for rigid barriers, Z20 for flexible fencing) integrated with the company's Controller 7000 hardware and Command Centre software platform. The system uses the HBUS communication protocol, which Gallagher highlights for its resilience against cyber attacks on the sensor communication path — a growing concern as perimeter systems become IP-connected.
The Controller 7000 separately won a 2025 Fortress Cyber Security Award in the Operational Technology category, reflecting industry recognition of the cybersecurity dimension in physical security hardware.
Gallagher, headquartered in Hamilton, New Zealand, manufactures access control, perimeter security, and animal management systems. The company's perimeter products are deployed at high-security sites across the UK, Australasia, and the Middle East.
