Gato Security Unveils 120km Fiber Optic PIDS at Intersec
Chinese perimeter security manufacturer Gato Security demonstrated its F7-DAS Vibration Fiber Optic System at Intersec Dubai 2025, claiming a detection range of 120 kilometres with the ability to locate up to 16,000 intrusion points simultaneously at ±1-metre precision.
The system uses Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology over standard fiber optic cable to detect vibrations caused by climbing, cutting, or digging along a perimeter fence line. Gato also exhibited the L7 buried sensor line and G5p Pulsed Electric Fence, positioning itself as a provider of layered, three-dimensional perimeter solutions.
The 120 km range figure places the F7-DAS at the upper end of claimed DAS detection distances in the market, a specification relevant primarily to border security, pipeline protection, and very large-area industrial sites where single-sensor coverage of extended perimeters reduces infrastructure costs.
Gato Security is headquartered in Shenzhen and serves markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The company's DAS products compete with Sintela (UK), Fiber SenSys (US/Japan), and Future Fibre Technologies (Australia) in the growing fiber optic PIDS segment.
