ISC West 2025: Sintela Launches Onyx Fiber-Optic PIDS
UK-based Sintela used ISC West 2025 (Booth 2052, Venetian Expo, Las Vegas) to launch the Onyx perimeter intrusion detection system, a Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) platform that achieves 3-metre intrusion localisation accuracy on standard telecommunications fiber.
Unlike competing DAS systems that require specially engineered sensing fiber, Sintela's Onyx operates on existing telecom-grade cable — a meaningful advantage for sites with buried fiber infrastructure already in place. The system's detection engine combines AI and heuristic algorithms developed from over one million hours of real-world data, classifying intrusion events while suppressing environmental noise.
The Onyx product line includes the Onyx peta (long-range, multi-zone) and Onyx nano (high-precision, shorter perimeters). Both are designed for critical infrastructure, border security, and large industrial sites where extended perimeter coverage from a single interrogator justifies the hardware investment.
Sintela competes in the fiber optic PIDS segment against Fiber SenSys/OPTEX (EchoPoint), Gato Security (F7-DAS), and Future Fibre Technologies (Aura Ai). The DAS market is the fastest-growing modality in perimeter detection, projected to expand at over 5% CAGR through 2032.
