Perimeter PREVENT 2025: SIA Convenes Federal and Industry Leaders in DC

The Security Industry Association (SIA) hosted Perimeter PREVENT 2025 on June 17–18 at the National Housing Center in Washington, D.C., bringing together policymakers, federal agency personnel, architects, engineers, and security solution providers for focused discussion on perimeter protection.

Cathy Lanier, Chief Security Officer of the NFL and former Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., delivered the keynote. The full-day educational programme on June 18 examined protective design methodology, critical infrastructure perimeter defence (with particular attention to data centre security), and civil unrest mitigation strategies.

Key themes from the event included the layered "deter, detect, deny" approach to perimeter design, the integration of environmental sensors and AI analytics into outdoor detection systems, and the growing urgency of securing data centre perimeters as hyperscale facilities become high-value targets.

Perimeter PREVENT is SIA's dedicated perimeter security event, distinct from the broader ISC West and ISC East conferences. Its Washington, D.C. location and federal-adjacent audience make it the primary venue for connecting PIDS vendors with government security decision-makers and the architecture and engineering (A&E) consultants who specify perimeter systems for public sector projects.
