Sintela Onyx Wins Best New Product at Security Exhibition Sydney
Sintela's Onyx fiber-optic perimeter intrusion detection system has won the Best New Product Award at the Security Exhibition & Conference 2025 in Sydney, Australia. The system was distributed at the show by Perimeter Systems Australia, Sintela's APAC distribution partner.
The award recognises Onyx's metre-level intrusion localisation accuracy, low false alarm rates, and operation on standard telecommunications fiber — capabilities that have positioned the system for critical infrastructure perimeter protection in the Asia-Pacific market.
The Sydney win follows Onyx's ISC West 2025 launch in March and marks Sintela's second major market recognition in 2025. For the UK-based company, establishing an APAC distribution channel through Perimeter Systems Australia opens access to the Australian critical infrastructure protection market — mining, energy, government, and defence facilities — where long perimeters and remote site locations favour fiber optic DAS over conventional sensor technologies.
The fiber optic PIDS segment continues to gain competitive momentum in 2025, with Sintela, OPTEX/Fiber SenSys, and Gato Security all securing awards or major showcases. Market recognition at regional security exhibitions is an important credential for specialist vendors competing against established global brands with broader product portfolios.
