Southwest Microwave Previews MicroPoint X Extended Range at ISC West
Southwest Microwave showcased updated variants of its MicroPoint fence-mounted detection system at ISC West 2025, highlighting an extended cable range that reduces infrastructure buildout requirements for long perimeters.
The MicroPoint X system detects intrusion attempts — climbing, cutting, and lifting — on chain-link, razor coil, and metal barrier fences within 1.1 metres of the disturbance point. The extended cable range allows a single processor to monitor longer fence runs, reducing the number of field enclosures and power connections required per installation.
The company also previewed INTREPID MicroNet II, a fence detection system specifically designed for correctional facilities. Correctional perimeters present unique challenges — high nuisance alarm environments (inmate activity near fences, institutional vibration) combined with zero-tolerance detection requirements. MicroNet II's signal processing is tuned to distinguish genuine intrusion signatures from the persistent background noise characteristic of prison fence lines.
Southwest Microwave, headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, has manufactured microwave barriers and fence detection systems since 1971. The company's INTREPID product line is deployed at government, military, correctional, and energy facilities across North America and internationally.
